AVE home page: the word AVE in cream graffiti letters with a thick black outline, above the line "What life teaches me, I turn into art."

AVE is where I put the other stuff: art, thoughts, dance, music, lived experiences and occasional existential debugging. The name stands for Arte, Vivência, Essência (Art, Experience, Essence), and it opens the way it should: with the name written in graffiti letters, fat outline and all, like something you’d find on a wall downtown.

The texts come out as numbered chapters, “written on the phone, between one late night and the next, while life happens”, in Portuguese and English. Each one lands in one of three categories: Art for expression, Experiences for real experiences and Essence for ideas, people and fragments.

The recent chapters on AVE: three cards with black and white photos of a graffiti bird, an instant photo held up at a party and a person painting a wall, each with a colored category tag

The design comes straight from the street: black and white photos, chunky cards with a white outline and an offset shadow like stickers on a wall, condensed poster type and a colored tag for each category. There’s even a REC timestamp in the corner, because some habits from fsociety never leave.

A chapter page on AVE: the pink "Art" tag, the title "WHY CREATE?" in tall condensed letters and a photo of a graffiti wall below

And it all closes in a loop: art comes from what you live, what you live shapes who you are, and who you are goes back into the art.

The AVE cycle: ART, EXPERIENCE and ESSENCE in pink, orange and purple, connected by arrows in a circle around a hand-written AVE
