Yaru Astro

A clean, minimal dark blog theme inspired by Ubuntu 24.04 (Yaru dark): a bash prompt that searches posts, code blocks shaped like GNOME windows, a numbered post list and the Ubuntu orange in the details.

I’ve been using Ubuntu every day for years, so building a blog that looks like my own desktop felt like the obvious next step:

Code blocks look like GNOME terminal windows, with the language in the title bar:

And the blog page filters posts by category with pills:

Every color comes straight from an Ubuntu desktop: the Ubuntu orange does all the talking, the prompt borrows GNOME Terminal’s green and blue, and the Yaru dark greys hold everything together:

Highlights:

• 🐧 Ubuntu Yaru look, with the Ubuntu orange as the accent color
• 🔎 Search posts by title from the bash prompt
• 🪟 Code blocks styled as GNOME windows
• 🏷️ Category pills to filter the blog
• ⚡ Static site with posts in Markdown, free to host on GitHub Pages, Cloudflare Pages or Netlify
